Did someone say Cancun? Now THAT I can do!
Cancun is a captivating and majestic destination located in Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula and bordering the Caribbean Sea. Popular for it’s white sand beaches and tranquil turquoise waters, you will become completely captivated by the melodious sounds of the sea as the waves wash up on the shore and your eyes are entranced by warm rays of sunlight dancing on the water. The city is clean and the locals are friendly.
Now, you may be wondering where to stay when you arrive. No worries. This is a popular spring break destination so the options are endless. But I’ll happily share my choice with you. I chose the JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa. There are several restaurants on site including the Gustino Italian Grill, The Beach Walk (a popular poolside lunchtime destination) or Kasai (a Japanese cuisine option if you want to switch it up) just to name a few. And of course I can’t fail to mention their amazing Wellness Center and “Mayan Inspired Spa” overlooking the sea as you chose from a number of services such as massages, facials or treatments inspired by local ancient rituals.
Now if you somehow get bored or have friends staying elsewhere, other resorts and restaurants are within walking distance. And since you already sprung for the trip, a little known secret is that many massages are offered professionally on the beach at a more reasonable rate if you don’t want to pay resort prices. The native language is Spanish but English is widely spoken as well. The resort offers a wide range of excursions to choose from to appease a more adventurous audience. I chose to embark on a one day tour to the private island of Isla Mujeres. We were transported by ferry and upon our arrival, rented scooters for island sightseeing and shopping.
As most of us travel junkies know, all trips are better planned in advance as the prices tend to be much lower. But I found really cheap flights from Dallas to Cancun available and highly recommend you check that out. Alright Sightseers! I think that just about covers it for this trip. See you soon at the next one!
